Astronomical events are always one of the most fascinating events for everyone. This time a rare lunar eclipse is going to occur on night of 27 September 2015. You must be thinking that lunar eclipse happens many times a year than what is so special about this one. This lunar eclipse is coinciding with one more astronomical event related to moon that is called Supermoon. Continue reading “Rare Supermoon with Total Lunar Eclipse 2015 on September, 27”

The days are getting longer due to motion of moon around the Earth. Although this is happening at extremely slow rate but the day length is getting longer. The day length has increased by 1.7 milliseconds during the last 100 years. This seems unusual because we have never felt the elongation of day length. The day length is increasing because of the decrease in speed of rotation of Earth. The revolution of moon around the Earth is applying a pull which is trying to slow down the rotation of Earth. Let’s understand it in detail. Continue reading “The speed of rotation of Earth is decreasing due to revolution of Moon”

The planet Earth is the only planet where life exists. Water is considered as a vital need for the existence of life on Earth. Earth has water in a large amount which is present in the form of oceans. But the planet Earth is not alone which has water. Other planets and moons also contain water on their surface.
